Robotic welding for fifth-wheel and saddle assemblies

The haibao robot fifth-wheel coupling welding cell is intended for repeat welding of coupling and support assemblies. The Guohua Group reference project shows robot welding and dedicated fixtures for saddle and fifth-wheel components.

Locate the assembly with dedicated tooling

The reference photographs show a fixture supporting fabricated coupling components during welding. For a new project, datum positions, component tolerances and clamping access are reviewed from the drawings before selecting the tooling arrangement.

Check the complete weld sequence

Supply weld symbols, joint preparation and any required preheat or multi-pass procedure. Robot access and the part-positioning strategy should be evaluated together so that the proposed cell addresses the specified seams.

Define the production family

The cell specification should list the models and sizes it will produce, the changeover method and the handling scope. Robot payload, reach, power source and cycle time cannot be established from the reference images alone and are confirmed during project engineering.

Agree inspection and acceptance requirements

Fifth-wheel and support assemblies must be manufactured to the buyer’s applicable design and inspection requirements. Include those requirements in the inquiry so that the welding trial and equipment acceptance plan can be aligned with them.
