Stainless IBC robotic welding cell at Shanghai SIEHE |
Circumferential welding with coordinated workpiece rotation |
haibao robot · NEWS & TECHNICAL INSIGHTS
haibao robot supplied Shanghai SIEHE with a robotic welding workstation for stainless steel intermediate bulk containers. The system coordinates a six-axis welding robot with external positioning axes to address longitudinal seams, circumferential joints and flange connections.
One container contains welds in several orientations. Thin stainless walls are sensitive to heat input, while repeated manual turning adds handling time. The project brings turning and welding into a coordinated program so the workpiece can be presented in a suitable position for each weld segment.
The installation combines the robot, turning-positioner arrangement, welding power source, fixtures and controls. Operators load and clamp the container, select its program, run the locating sequence and start the planned weld segments. The cycle covers shell seams, bottom and opening joints, then flange or reinforcement details as required by the container design.
Recipes organize the parameters for each container family. Changeover involves the appropriate fixture and validated program, followed by checks of the actual fit-up. Seam locating and tracking capabilities help address position variation within their validated limits; they do not remove the need for consistent assembly.
The delivery focuses on repeatable torch movement, controlled heat input and reduced manual repositioning. Weld inspection and leak testing remain part of the container manufacturer’s quality process. Capacity depends on the weld list, handling arrangement, consumables and maintenance plan rather than an assumption of uninterrupted operation.
Send container drawings, capacity variants, wall thickness, stainless grade, weld map, surface-finish and leak-test requirements, plus daily output. We will review positioning, fixtures and the welding sequence.
