Cutting molded interior components

Door trim panels and other molded interior components can require openings and edge trimming on curved surfaces. Non-contact laser processing provides a programmable alternative to dedicated trim tools where the polymer, laminate and edge requirements are suitable.

Two equipment approaches

The authorized reference presents a robot carrying an articulated CO2 beam-delivery system and a five-axis machine configuration. Robot-based cells offer flexible part access and positioning options. A five-axis machine offers a different motion structure; the choice should follow reach, tolerance, fixture and throughput requirements.

Qualify the complete material stack

A polymer name alone is not enough to approve laser cutting. Coatings, adhesives, reinforcement and additives can change the edge condition and emissions. Provide a full material specification and sample parts for process trials, extraction assessment and acceptance of the finished edge.

Plan the cell as a system

Part supports must locate the molded component without marking or distorting it. Enclosure, interlocks and extraction are part of the cell scope. Share the 3D model, trim lines, appearance criteria and production target with haibao robot before selecting power or predicting cycle time.
